Hartals

‘Hartal’ is a term that describe a strike action, a mass protest often involving a total shutdown of workplaces, offices, schools, shops and law courts as a form of civil disobedience. It is a way to appeal to the government so as to convince it to change unpopular decisions. Hartals happen to be very common in Kashmir, a symbol of the ongoing violence and conflict.
