Making a change, building our future!
We, young people, may live thousands of kilometers far from each other, we may come from different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds, we may have completely different ways of thinking and perceiving the world around us. But we as youth have the most important role in the world, as we create the future of our world, we create the history that can influence the lives of coming generations either positively or negatively, depending on our activities.
Yes, today’s world has hundreds of challenges to face. Most of them are closely connected with violations of human rights. How strange it may sound , in the era of abundance there are still many people who die of hunger, survive in the awful conditions, undergo physical and psychological violence. A lot of children are deprived of getting even the basic education. We have to live in an environment which is getting more and more polluted day by day. Every single day we receive news that a conflict has resumed on this or that part of the world, a terrorist’s bomb exploded in the city centre killing dozens of innocent civilians and the list can be continued.
And who else, if not young people should tackle these issues? I realize that each young person is a representative of this or that nation/country, thus their actions are mostly influenced by the interests of their governments. For me, being young means being free of all kind of prejudices and stereotypes and standing for everything that is good for the humanity. Our actions should be intended to creating a better world for all people, where human rights will be protected and we will enjoy and care for our environment. A world where people will speak to each other without even thinking that they are different in religion, color or race. This will make our world a place of joy and peace. The image of the world described above is not just a fantasy of a romantic girl, it is the destination that humanity can achieve. For this purpose, we, young people, should stand shoulder to shoulder, hand by hand and start the dialogue. We should not be afraid to express our opinions and start to talk about the issues that are considered to be untouchable. We ourselves should create opportunities for us, be aware of our rights and make the world hear our voices. Full of energy, enthusiasm, inspiration and motivation we will be able to find new ways to solve the most urgent issues of our societies and come up with innovative ideas to build the world of our dreams.
